Medication Administration

Take this 4-hour course and learn the DHS requirements for Medication Administration when working with people who have DD, MI, CD and Physical Disabilities. The course teaches skills in the following ares:

  • Understand the different types of medications
  • Learn the side effects and reactions of common medications
  • Discover comfort medications and their usage
  • Administer & pass medication administration skills
  • Observe, then document in the health progress notes
  • Chart and transcribe medications
  • Document medical appointments, errors, refusals & leaves of absence
  • Use of stock/standing order medications
  • Disposal of medications & schedule II narcotics
  • Current abbreviations

    Passing this course allows the participant to receive a Medication Administration Certificate. Note: This class is not intended to replace a 40-hour Medication Administration course.

    Adult CPR - American Red Cross Certification

    These classes benefit people working with all different types of consumers in social services. Our classes are interactive 2-1/2 hour long sessions. Participants practice and demonstrate competency skills when responding to the following life-threatening emergencies:

  • Assessing & positioning the victim
  • Using the check-call-care guidelines
  • Recognizing & responding to heart attacks
  • Assessing and administering adult CPR

    Basic 1st Aid Classes - American Red Cross Certification

    This 2-hour class teaches participants active 1st Aid procedures. Learn to ensure the safety of your consumers by responding appropriately.

  • Controlling bleeding

  • Helping a burn victim
  • Dealing with musculoskeletal injuries
  • Responding to heat and cold extremes
  • Assessing & facilitating support during medical emergencies

    Session I Orientation

    Learn the basic rules to work in homes servicing people with DD, MI, CD, and Physical Disabilities. This session prepares participants for working in social services by teaching them the DHS rules and the emergency responses.
